My First time as a Pilot

Firstly, a huge hi to all the hobbyists who have turned up to read about my first experience of flying a drone,

“TO INVENT AN AIRPLANE IS NOTHING. TO BUILD ONE IS SOMETHING. TO FLY IS EVERYTHING.” OTTO LILIENTHAL

And in a way I personally fell the same way for drone too. The pleasure and joy you feel when your own build is air bound by her own creator is far greater than that I received when the drone was completely build.

After reading many articles regarding “how to fly a drone (or a quadcopter) ?“ and also tutorials on youtube the most widely practiced first step is to start with simulator sessions which made me do the same. Using simulator is really fun and any gamer would love it. I used FPV Freerider simulator. I just started with installing the app in my smart phone and spent 4 to 5 days just to get a proper understanding on the flight controls of drone. Using lift off simulator in pc, I got my joysticks connected to pc to get a feel of using transmitters as I had a fear of damaging the gimble of my transmitter. Few days went past and couldn’t hold the drone in acro mode using joystick. After asking many suggestions from friends seniors and well-wishers I decided to take off from simulation piloting for three days to bring down my anxiety level, refresh and bounce back with greater confidence. And this small trick helped me a lot. Now I was able to manage in acro mood . With a week more practice of hitting hard the throttle in stimulator I gained a bit lot of confidence to test my piloting skill for real.

With all my stimulator experience I took out my mini quad and connected it with my FrSky taranis QX7 transmitter and with bright hope to lift it up like a pro pilot but what happened was something quite different, with the responsibility to not crash the drone on your shoulders I was unable to have my dream lift but yeah it was in air a couple of feets above the ground. There was slight wind flow which caused the drone to drift away a little which was brand new to me, it can never be experienced in simulators, so I had to continuously apply some roll to my drone to make it hover in the same place then it took me some time to get confidence to pitch out and just moved front and back. This was my first drone piloting experience. Join us and experience the same with us.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The sky will seem to be unique when you fly a drone. Expand your perspective. Happy flying.
